On 6th of June 2013 news broke about an alleged government surveillance scheme which claims to have access to emails, VOIP calls, searches and other forms of internet based communication. PRISM has potentially been active for a few years and due to the fact that users are based outside of the US it affects multiple countries and continents.

Reports suggest the US Federal Government has direct access into global internet giants like Google, AOL, Apple, Facebook and more. Naturally these companies have denied the claims or they may have turned a blind eye. True or not, everyones entire lives could be open to eavesdropping or recording by the government.

The Good
Fast, reliable and simple to use. Waterproof, crushproof and no battery to run out.

The Bad
Initial setup may be difficult for novice users, depending on the function. There are only two storage slots at present. If lost or stolen some features cannot be remotely turned off – don’t rely on it solely for authentication.

Conclusion
A cracking RSA style replacement, which is easier, quicker and more affordable to use. No massive server licence to buy or setup. From $25 + VAT per token it is far more affordable than most others and generally works out of the box, without a management console. Cyber security: Is a real Skyfall waiting to happen?

Picture this. The main government agency Mi6, which is at the forefront in cyber security and offensive hacking (allegedly) is hacked and their office is blown up. That is exactly what happened in Skyfall (Eon Productions 2012). The bad guy, played by Javier Bardem, hacks into Mi6 and turns on the gas remotely thus blowing up the building and hitting the government at its core. With advances in technology this situation is not actually as farfetched as it might seem.
